Lucille "Lucy" Allums

Lucille Smith "Lucy" Allums, , age 85 , of Bagley, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 31,2011. She was born on September 8, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Auston Smith, and her brothers Roland, Auldin "Champ", and W.A. "Shorty" Smith. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, J.D. Allums, Jr.; her daughters, Carol Williams, Betty (Benny) Burtram and Marsha (Bucky) Kinsaul; "fourth daughter" Ann (Terry) Coleman; grandchildren Brent Williams, Kelly (R.J.) Butler, Shanna (Billy) Cencula, Benjamin Burtram, Daniel (Anna) Kinsaul, Adam (Emily) Kinsaul; and Natalie Kinsaul; great-granddaughter, Anna Claire Cencula; brothers, Percy (Opal) Smith and Ray (Johanna) Smith; sisters, Arlene Kitchens and Kitty (Eddie) Key; sisters-in-law Lillian Smith, Anne Hunt, Bobbie Smith, and Dorothey Brooks; son-in-law Rene (Linda) Williams; many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Allums was raised in the Bagley community, and was a 1943 graduate of Corner High School. Her many community activities include serving as Bagley Girls' 4-H Club leader for fourteen years and as the president of the Jefferson County Council of Extension Homemakers Clubs for two years. She enjoyed participating in the Bagley Extension Homemakers Club for many years. She was also a founding board member of the McCormack Cemetery Fund. Mrs. Allums was a faithful member of Liberty Primitive Baptist Church in Dora all of her adult life. Her devotion to and love for her church family exemplified Psalm 122:1 "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the lord." The family wishes to thank all of the friends and extended family members who have been so supportive, with special thanks to Vickey and Wayne Allums and New Beacon Hospice for their care and concern. Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2011, from 6-8 p.m., at New Horizon Funeral Home in Dora. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with burial in McCormack Cemetery.
