Loretta Burns Greer, age 76, woke up in the arms of her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ on October 1, 2024. Loretta lived 76 beautiful years. She was born on January 12, 1948, to Aaron Lorenzo Burns and Doris Shipp Kimbrel. In Loretta’s 76 years, she was blessed to be called a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Loretta lived for and cherished each and every day spent with her family and loved ones. Loretta loved her family fiercely and they were her absolute world. Loretta had a way with people that was such a God-given gift. Anyone she ever met felt love and inexplicable joy. She radiated love and pure joy and could simply walk into a room, smile, and make you feel like the most important person in the world. The reason our sweet, precious Loretta was this way is because her first and most important love was her Lord & Savior. She loved the Lord with all her heart and declared His love & faithfulness in everything she did. She loved life, people, and even all the small animals that found their way to her home over the years. Loretta was the type of woman that would say, “I will pray for you” and she did. She would charge heaven for you and had the faith to move mountains. She truly and sincerely loved like Jesus and there are not enough words to express the beautiful person that Loretta was. Loretta was a member of Burnwell Bible Church of God where she served and attended regularly. Loretta’s other God-given gift was singing, and she was blessed with the voice of an angel. We can all be assured that she is up there in Heaven enjoined with the angel’s choir, worshiping, and singing praises to the King of Kings. Loretta loved to worship through music and spent many years of her life singing with the Haven-Aires gospel group from Ashville, AL, singing in several church choirs, and singing with her beloved husband Fred. She devoted most of her life spreading the gospel, and ushering in the Lord’s presence in obedience, which led many to the foot of the cross. Loretta was anointed and called by the Lord, and she used her gift to honor God and worship him until her final breath. We can be assured that we will never have to question or guess where she will be for eternity. Her very sole purpose was to serve God and love others & she did that until her very last breath. Loretta’s prayers were that one day all her family and friends would join her at the feet of Jesus. Loretta’s family & friends long for the day to see her beautiful, smiling face again. She will be missed, honored, and loved from now until we meet her again at the pearly gates of Heaven. One way we can always honor the memory of Loretta is to love people, to love God, and to always treat others with kindness. Through these actions, you can one day be worshiping right beside her again and be reunited together forever in Heaven. Loretta left earth with a piece of our hearts, but she left us with a peace and a gift that will last us for a lifetime, and that is love. She loved with all her might, her will, and her heart. We will miss Loretta, until we see our beautiful friend again. She was preceded in death by her father, Aaron Lorenzo Burns; and mother, Doris Shipp Kimbrel. She is survived by her husband, Fred Greer; children, Teresa Harris of Steele, AL, Daniel Harris of Ashville, AL, chosen daughter, Lisa Lee of Steele, AL, Brandi (Robert) Brown of Sumiton, AL, Neysa (Darold) McGee of Centreville, AL, Tami Greer of Centreville, AL; two sisters, Latrelle (Rick) Mason of Pinson, AL, and Nancy Burns Hays of Dora, AL; numerous grand and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday Oct. 5, 2024, at 10:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday evening 6-8 pm.
