Linda Jo Edwards

Linda Jo Dutton Edwards, age 79, born February 24, 1946 and passed away on May 18, 2025. She was born in Dora, AL, and was a resident there for majority of her life. She graduated from Dora High School in the class of 1964 She graduated from Walker College in 1966 with an Associate Degree in Science and from the University of Alabama in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Education as well as a dual major Master's Degree in History and Education. Over her lifetime she worked hard as a teacher, social worker and entrepreneur with both a children's clothing store, "Caroline's" and later an antique shop, "Jessica & US Antiques". Alongside her husband Carroll, she also owned and operated Edwards Land Developing. Throughout her life she was a devoted Christian and long-standing member of the Dora Church of God. Following this devotion, she received a Graduate of Biblical Studies from the Institute of Biblical Studies. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Mayo and Dora Imogene Dutton, infant siblings Jaqueline and Janet, as well as her husband of 56 years, Carroll Leevon Edwards. She is survived by her children, Linda Caroline Edwards Stephens (Andrea) and Daniel Carroll Edwards (Natalie); grandchildren, Jessica Motte Mashburn (Richard), Jordan Potts Bozeman (Zac), Jaden Potts, Caleb Edwards, Jenna Stephens, and Emma Edwards; great-grandsons, Tucker B. Bozeman and John Mark Bozeman; her sibling, Lana Janelle Justice (Craig) and nephews, Tony Burgess and William Justice (Charlie). "Her memory will be abundantly treasured." Homegoing services to honor her life in Christ will be held in the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10:00 am. Pastors Rick Levell of Dora Church of God, Zac Bozeman of Dora First Baptist and Joseph Howard of Faith Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00-9:30 am for the family, all family members are welcome. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10 am. Burial will be in New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
