John E. Williams

John E. Williams, born November 8 1928, walked through the enteral gates of heaven on the beautiful morning of April 25, 2018. Funeral services will be Monday April 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Lawler Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 12-2 pm at the funeral home. He was born in Bagley Bend to his parents Ethel and Janie Williams. He was a graduate of Corner High School class of 1948. He enlisted in the services where he proudly served from 1949-1952. He is a Korean War Veteran. He was employed by Drummond Coal Company as a coal miner. He retired from Drummond in 1986 after 33 years of service. He had a perfect attendance award at retirement. He was the owner at William’s grocery store. He had many hobbies in life but his favorite was racing. He loved short track racing and spending Friday and Saturday nights at the race track. He proudly owned the 4jr race car. Victory lane was his favorite place to be. John was the proud father of two sons Johnny and Tommy Williams. As well as his Daughter in love Barbara Ann. His greatest joys and blessings in life came from his granddaughters, Jill Williams Wilson, Shauna Williams Thacker, Deana Williams Bookout and Ashley Brook Williams; two great granddaughters, Aubrie Bookout and Bailey Ford, who he called the squirrel. He loved his girls more than anything. He loved picking them up from school in the afternoons when they were growing up, taking them to breakfast on Saturday mornings and summers in the backyard by the pool with them. He was a wonderful role model to his sons and his granddaughters. He taught them to live an honest life and follow God. He taught them the value of a dollar and to always plan ahead for the next day. He is proceeded in death by his parents Ethel and Janie Williams Sisters Ruth, Hazel, Lorene, Margarett, Lizzy, and his brother Owen. He is survived by his sons Johnny Williams (John Jr) Tommy Williams (Barbara Ann), granddaughters, Jill Williams Wilson, Shauna Williams Thacker (Zack) , Deana Williams Bookout (Kris), Ashley Brook Williams; great granddaughter, Aubrie Bookout; sisters, Betty Ann , Carolyn and Jane, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
