Jeannette Cheatham Bynon

Jeannette Cheatham Bynon was born September 2, 1929, in Walker County, AL., and passed away at the age of 95, February 13, 2025, in Birmingham, AL. She is survived by her two sons, Robert (“Bobby”) P. Bynon, Jr. (Judy) and James Ronald (“Ronnie”) Bynon (Michele); granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Bynon Neely (Chris) and great-grandson Bynon David Neely; step-granddaughter Robin Miller (Chris) and step great-grandson Trent Watson; sister Ruth Ferrick and Lousie Farris (Brad) along with a multitude of loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert P. Bynon, Sr.; parents Fred Cheatham and Martha Bray Cheatham, brothers Floyd Cheatham, and Belton Cheatham and sister Christine Gabby. In earlier years, Jeannette worked as a substitute school teacher at Adamsville Elementary, an Avon salesperson, a U.S. Mail Carrier, and a Court Clerk and Magistrate for the Adamsville Municipal Court. She was also an active member of the PTA when her sons were in elementary school. After her husband died at the age of 48, she worked long and hard hours to make sure her sons had what they needed. She succeeded. She will always be remembered for that smile and sweet disposition. Her sisters, nieces, and nephews enjoyed coming to see Aunt Jeannette because they knew they would swing on the porch, be loved on, fed well, play games and cards into the wee hours of the night, and laugh a lot. She leaves countless friends of who she loves so much. Her main hobby when health allowed, was working in the yard. She was well known for being able to make her yard look like a well-manicured golf course. She was a member of the Adamsville Methodist Church and Midway Methodist Church. She loved each of them. She also enjoyed playing games at the Adamsville Senior Citizens Center. Bobby and Ronnie lost a Mother and God gained an Angel. Visitation with friends will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. with the service commencing immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Midway Methodist Church (3904 Oakwood Drive, Adamsville, AL 35005) or Adamsville Methodist Church (PO Box 442, Adamsville, AL 35005).
