George William Laird Jr.

George William Laird, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered into his eternal home with the Lord on October. 9, 2025. A devoted Christian, he lived his guided by faith, integrity and love for his family. He was a faithful servant of God, who found joy in worship, kindness in service, and peace in prayer. Born on April 3, 1940 in Birmingham, AL, George built a life centered around love and loyalty. He adored his wife Debby. Nothing made him prouder than his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren-who lovingly called him Pappy. To them, he was a hero, a storyteller, a jokester and the heart of every family gathering. A passionate Alabama fan, he could be found cheering on the Crimson Tide with that unmistakable sparkle in his eyes, and a hearty "Roll Tide!" He leaves a legacy of love, laughter and faith that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a testament to God's grace, and his family rejoices knowing he is now resting in the arms of his Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, George William Laird "Bill" and Verla Davis Laird; brother, Jimmie Laird; sister, Barbara Cook; his first wife, Virginia Weldon Laird; first born daughter, Lynda Lee Laird, and son, Stephen Russell. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah Warren Laird; daughters, Karen Alsobrooks (Ron) and Sharon Carver (Dale); son, Christopher Laird; grandchildren, Stephanie Miller (Brett), Courtney Williams (Jeremy), Kaitlyn Willis (Austin), Faith Laird, Cole Russell, Olivia Akins, Caleigh Price, Christian Laird, Tyler Carver, Riley Carver and Zac Alsobrooks; great grandchildren, Carter and Cashton Maury, Whit Williams, Blake and Maddux Miller, Marlee and Maggie Willis and Cace Russell; siblings, Raymond Laird and Mary Goodson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved and adored. "Forever loved, forever missed and forever with the Lord." Funeral services will be Tuesday October 14, 2025 at 10:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Joey Hill will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield.
