Frances Shipp Moody

Frances Shipp Moody, age 83, passed away on September 12, 2021 in Blount County, AL Frances is survived by her sweetheart, husband of 64 years and constant companion, Davie Moody; her children, Wayne Moody and his wife Darlene of Jackson, TN, Sandra Robinson and her husband Ken of Corner, AL and Phillip Moody and his wife Candy, also of Corner, AL. The absolute joy of her life was her four grandsons, Jamie Hight and his daughters, Gracie and Lillian, Kurt Moody, Kyle Moody and his wife Allie and Lance Moody. Frances is also survived by her sister, Janice Wisener and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Shipp, Jimmie Brymer, Ann Rice and Nita Snow: close family, Jessica and Tim Hatchett and son Colton, Megan Robinson and daughter Robin, Michael and Liz Robinson and daughter Kate and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lois Shipp; her in-laws, Ray and Edna Moody; her son-in-law, Jeff Hight; her brothers, Franklin and Donald Shipp and her sisters, Andalene McCoy and Shelba Jones. Frances was a life-long resident of the Corner community and graduated from Corner High School in 1956. She loved being a homemaker while her children were young and when all three children were in school, she began working in the Corner Elementary Library where she enjoyed many years of working with and encouraging children to love reading. Frances was also a long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where for a time she served as part time church secretary, church clerk, Sunday School teacher and member of the Women’s Missionary Union. As long as her health allowed, she was a faithful, supportive member. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring person who loved Jesus, her family and her church family. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday September 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at the church. The pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Jacob Elliott and the former pastor, Dr. Sammie Reid will officiate. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to caregivers, Vickie Waid, Ann Rice, Janice Wisener, Leigh Ann Gaither, faithful friends Sue and Heldridge Shipp; Linda and Dave Morton, Helen and Clayton Reid; Helen and Sam Hamrick, Joe and Lavene Westbrook, her Sunday School class and Comfort Care Hospice for their excellent care- especially Carolyn, Courtney, Chasity, Crystal and Ashley.
