Betty Jean Godfrey Godfrey, Betty Jean Wood, age 85, of Arley, Alabama, was called home to be with her Lord on February 11, 2012. She passed away peacefully at her home from a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Darven and Flora Wood, beloved husband of 45 years, Johnny Godfrey, and sister, June Dickinson. She is survived by her two children, Larry DeVett Godfrey and Tonya Loggins (Terry); five grandchildren, Damyon Godfrey, Tiffani Loggins Hauler (Chris), Trista Loggins, Brooke Guthrie and Micah Godfrey; four great grandchildren, Christian Drew Godfrey, Brynleigh Hauler, Payton and Cayden Pare; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was a devout member of Good Hope Baptist Church for over 40 years where she was active in the children's church, a participant in the Senior Citizen's program, and also served as a hostess in the kitchen cooking for others. She retired from Hayes Aircraft in 1982 after working there for 31 years. She was a charter member of the 78 West Business and Professional Women's Club. As a life long resident of Forestdale, she recently moved to Smith Lake where she enjoyed her lake home and waterfront view. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at New Horizon Funeral Home in Dora. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 13, at 2:00 P.M. at New Horizon Funeral Home with burial to follow at McCormack's Cemetery. Brother Lynn Wilson will be officiating the service.
