Becky Ann Powell

Becky Ann Powell, 70, of Sumiton, was born March 12,1954 to parents Horace & Magdalene Phillips of the Dilworth community. On October,3,2024, while surrounded by her family, she went peacefully when the Angels called her home. Mrs. Powell was a graduate of Dora High school, Class of 1972. She was married to the love of her life, Rickey, on February,17 1973. Together they had children, Amy & Andy. Mrs. Powell had a true servant heart. She spent 20+ years as the Christmas play coordinator, vacation Bible school director and Sunday school teacher at Dilworth Freewill Baptist. She was a school bus driver and worked in the lunchroom at Sumiton Christian School. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her courageous battle against brain cancer. She was proof, it’s not over until God says it’s over. Although she spent 24 years bound by the effects of cancer, her faith never wavered. She was “fine”, as she would often say. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Horace & Magdalene Phillips, Her husband Rickey Powell, in laws, Lelton & Wilma Powell, sister- in-law Robbie Williams & niece Heather Phillips. Please remember those she leaves behind in your prayers. Daughter, Amy Jones (Jason) son, Andy Powell (Amanda). Her beloved grandchildren, Hunter Freeman (Taylor), Cayla Scott (John), Taylor Hanlin (Clay), Mollie Freeman, Victoria Ann Powell (Tori), Aubrey Parker, Adaline Henderson, Asher Blackmon & great grandson River Zain Freeman. Her siblings, Terry (Rene) Charles (Barbara) David and Tommy Phillips, Linda Stacks (Ronald), Irene Davenport, Teresa Bland (David). Brother-in- law, Steve Powell (Cindy) and a host of nieces, nephews & other relatives. The family would like to thank Melissa Hallman & Enhabit Home Health & Hospice for the exceptional care they gave during this time. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 6, 24 at New Life Christian Assembly. Family visitation will be from 12-1pm. Friends are welcome from 1-2pm. Service will begin at 2pm.
