Aaron Edwards Sr.

Aaron Clifton Edwards, Sr., 81 of West Jefferson, passed away Thursday March 13, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1943, to Dewey C. and Kathleen Utley Edwards in Walker County, Alabama. Aaron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and community leader whose legacy will forever be remembered. A dedicated businessman, Aaron was the founder of The Edwards Insurance Agency in 1972, a role he held with pride and commitment. He was also the founder of the Sumiton Merchants Association, and his leadership extended to serving as the past president of the Lions Club, a member of the Walker County Homebuilders Association and the West Jefferson Town Council. He was an active member of the Community Church of Quinton. Aaron made a lasting impact on his community, always putting others firsthand working tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him. Aaron's love for his community was matched by his deep passion for family and the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or cutting grass. He could often be found in his shop or playing Mexican Train dominoes and rummy with his family. Aaron attended Dora High School and graduated from Carbon Hill High School, class of 1961. On November 23, 1966, Aaron married the love of his life, Brenda Caradine, and together they shared a wonderful life filled with loved and devotion. He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Kathleen Edwards, his brother, Carrol Edwards, his sister Judy Edwards Smith and Kenny and his sister-in-law Julie Vintson Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Edwards, his sons, Aaron Jr. (Stacy Beck) and Chris (Stacy Street), his sister Linda Kay Edwards Smith (Danny), his brother, Gaylon Edwards (the late Pat Edwards), and his brother-in-law David Caradine &sister-in-law, Carly Jean Harden and Linda Jo Edwards. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Trevor Edwards (Haley), Hunter Edwards (Britton), Casey Rawlins (Amry), Trent Rawlins, Hollie Edwards Sargent (Blake), and Hailey Edwards, as well as great grandchildren Lucas, Hayes, Holden, Maverick, Sophie, and Millie. The family will receive friends for visitation at New Horizon on Sunday March 16, 2025, from 5:30 -7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at New Horizon Chapel on Monday at 2:00pm with burial at Freewill Cemetery in West Jefferson. Aaron's warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
